After-School Art With Allyson

Art for Ages 4-18

‘Art With Allyson’ is a once weekly class held in our arts complex. Each session consists of its own weekly theme, so that your child has something new to anticipate with each coming week.

About Our Instructor

Cleveland artist, Allyson Hardy, is a native of Oxford, MS who attended Delta State University in 1990 and received her fine arts degree in 1994. She has called Cleveland home for the last 13 years. After living for about ten years away from Mississippi (Memphis and Dallas), she returned to her college hometown, began painting more, and finding her own style. She has exhibited in Oxford’s Double Decker Festival, The Peter Anderson Arts Festival in Ocean Springs, and sells work locally. After working as both an art and gifted educator for a total of 17 years, she has made the leap to pursue her art full time. She is thrilled to still teach after school art with the Delta Arts Alliance, because art education will always be a passion of hers. She is mom to three children, Emma, Eliza and Zane.

Dance & Movement

About our Instructor

A dancer and yoga teacher, Erin Mulligan leads movement-based classes and workshops. A native of Newport, Rhode Island, Mulligan now lives in the Mississippi Delta and serves as the executive director of ArtPlace Mississippi in Greenwood. She leads arts-integrated programs for schools, choreography workshops, professional development for educators, and yoga teacher trainings throughout the state. She is a graduate of Bradford College in Massachusetts with a degree in performing arts. Mulligan believes in empowering students to become active participants in their education by providing hands-on learning through the arts. She is passionate about connecting movement and mindfulness – whether that’s in a studio, on a stage, or in a classroom.

Young Filmmakers

About our Instructor

Filmmaker, Ben Powell of Broken Arm Studio, aims to tell stories about the American South with humility and heart. He is a director and producer whose work has taken him a top mountains in Alaska, aboard barges down the Mississippi, and through Tokyo’s winding streets. His work invites us into deeper knowing of people and places that are often overlooked, subtly celebrating the beauty in the minutiae.

Compelled to view the world through a lens since he was old enough to hold a camera, Ben has amassed a body of award winning work that has premiered at film festivals across the country. He began his career as a cinematographer, later going on to direct his best known film, BARGE which documents America’s most industrious waterway and the people who live in it.
