    No dance background needed! This class uses physical theater, gesture, and contemporary movement to help students develop expressive bodies on stage. The focus is on character work, stage presence, and utilizing movement as a storytelling tool.

  • Earth Color Workshop with Robin Whitfield

    Saturday, Oct. 18th 9am-1pm

    Ages 16+

    Find and Play with Wild Plant and Mineral Pigments

    Join Mississippi artist and naturalist Robin Whitfield for a hands-on exploration of wild pigments. In this four-hour workshop, we’ll gather and process color straight from the landscape— soils, plants and urban debris —as a way to deepen your connection to place. Through guided foraging, pigment processing, ink making and creative prompts, you’ll discover nature as your co-creator. You’ll also have access to Robin’s Earth Color Buffet—a rich collection of wild inks and raw pigments gathered from across Mississippi and beyond.

  • Painting the Delta Series #2: Delta Sunset

    There is nothing like a Delta sunset! Join artist Christina Alford in creating your very own sunset to enjoy any time of the day. Christina will guide you through the process while also teaching artistic principles and techniques such as perspective, color theory, and space. Use the techniques taught in this class to elevate your won artistic skills to continue to grow as an artist.

  • Dance for the Stage

    Dance for the Stage: Jazz & Musical Theater

    A beginner-friendly class introducing jazz, musical theater, and contemporary styles commonly used in productions. Students will learn choreography with an emphasis on performance quality, storytelling, and building confidence in stage movement.

    Functional Flow for Strength & Stability

    This class explores how strong, coordinated core support enhances balance, joint stability, and ease in movement. Blending Pilates-inspired core work with a dynamic yoga sequence, we’ll move from the ground up, building functional strength through thoughtful sequencing and intentional pacing. Suitable for all levels.

    Learn how to make authentic lasagna and tiramisu from scratch with Greta at the food lab located in Ewing Hall at DSU.

  • The Abstracted Figure with Lawson King

    The Abstracted Figure: A Small Sculpture Workshop

    Thursday & Friday 6-8PM

    November 13th & 14th

    DAA Member: $200

    Non Member $220

    Discover the expressive potential of the human form through abstraction in this hands-on two day sculpture workshop. Participants will examine the figure as shape, mass, and gesture while working with a variety of sculptural materials to create small-scale works. Emphasis will be placed on experimentation, form development, and personal interpretation. Each participant will take home a finished piece—a one-of-a-kind sculpture sure to be a meaningful keepsake or family heirloom. Open to all levels; no prior sculptural experience required.

Guest Artist Studio Series

Experience something extraordinary with DAA’s Visiting Artist Workshops. Each session is led by a talented guest artist, offering a rare chance to learn new techniques, gain fresh perspectives, and connect directly with working creatives. By hosting these special events, DAA supports artists in their professional practice while giving participants the opportunity to expand their own artistic horizons.
